Welcome To The Farm....
We live just North of Owosso on the family farm,
which was established in 1874 by Eric’s Great
Grandfather. The farm is a Michigan Centennial
Farm.
Of the 240 acres we use about 30 for our goats and
three Appaloosa horses. We grow our own hay and
hope to someday grow some of the grain that we use.
We enjoy flower gardening and growing our own
vegetables. We also keep a few chickens that supply
us with fresh eggs.

Our first goat was actually a wether. The Clinton
County 4-H folks will tell his story for years to
come. Eric purchased him for the bargain basement
price of $740.00 at the Clinton County fair in 2002.
Yes, that’s right, $740.00 for a wether!
The
little guy, named Cruise, won Grand Champion Market
Goat that year. Annie Brock, the daughter of a very
dear friend, had raised this little guy and we were
all quite attached and were sure that he was going to be
sold and eaten. So, Eric decided to rescue him
Unbeknownst to Eric, he was bidding against a bank.
Needless to say, the bank gave up, Eric won and we
found out later that the bank was going to give
Cruise back to Annie anyway, they didn’t want him,
it was just for advertisement. So, Cruise was
renamed Pete. Pete became a huge, spoiled rotten
fellow, that took up space, ate a lot, and YES, we
loved him.
Our
next purchase was two young does in September of
2003, and the rest is history. We bred both those
does that fall to Karen Ibarra’s buck, Bolt, and got
5 kids. We have only bought two more does since
then.
In
2006 we purchased a really nice looking buck, PDGP
Half Moon from P&Ds Goat Palace, in Albion,
Michigan. Moon’s” first crop of kids hit the ground
in the Spring of 2007. We are happy with his
performance. He is a nice looking paint and has a
great personality. We have very high hopes for
Moon’s offspring.
Our
herd consists of both traditional and paints and we
are dabbling just a bit in crossing our Boer bucks
with Nubian does and Nubian percentage does.
Our
goal is to raise a good quality, healthy goat with
decent confirmation and good meat.
(NOTE: Sadly, Pete passed away in August of 2007.
He is buried here at Briggeman Farms where we will
love him forever) .
